Easy read but it has a lot of characters to keep up with. The book was a little different and a bit unexpected.
Kate Wilhelm creates compelling characters and intriguing mysteries. She surprises me with which characters she's willing to kill off. I didn't think this particular book was as well written or as well-paced as her Barbara Holloway series, but the two amateur detectives have an interesting relationship that I'll want to follow with subsequent books in this series.
It was a grand view of inside the theater world in Ashland. Well written.
Good read but guess I like the Barbara Holloway books better it just didn't quite seem like a Kate Wilhelm book.
I love Kate Wilhelm's Barbara Holloway Series, but sadly I'm almost finished with it. So I thought I'd give this earlier series a try. I've read a number of Wilhelm's stand alone novels now and have found each one hard to put down. I've come to the conclusion that I can't go wrong with this author. She's a great storyteller. Her characters are interesting, and, for me, the plots never boring. I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in the Charlie and Constance series.
