I purchased the paperback, and read it over two nights. I enjoyed it. This story reminds us Christians that you can do everything well with respect to raising a child, and still encounter difficulties. Living a righteous life by attempting to constantly follow the Lord and avoiding negative worldly influences, e.g., rap music and improper associations with non-believers, does not spare one from trials and challenges that the devil thrusts before us. The Lord makes no promise that the Christian life will be better or easier, and this story clearly demonstrates this fact.I remain completely amazed at the level of faith in the Lord and fervent prayer that the author demonstrated throughout her family's ordeal. Therein lies the message. The author refused to lose hope, although she was markedly challenged several times. At the end of the day, the Lord remained with her as He promised. I pray that I have this enduring faith, if ever faced with such circumstances. May God continue to bless those who endure to the end.

I bought the paperback a while ago, but wanted to have the ebook version since it's easier to travel with. This book is a compelling testimony of a mother's faith in God to restore her lost son back to her and her husband. I always thought that raising your children to love God, honor their parents, do what is right and help others would mean they would grow up with those qualities, but it's not always a straight route to get there. My husband & I have two sons, one 21 & one 18 and we know first hand that it can be a rocky road on the way. When our younger son went through a very challenging rebellious time a few years ago, this book helped us have hope that God could and would help our son find his way back to Him. We're still on the road back, but we have seen some great changes in our son. I come back to it at times to remind myself that with God, anything is possible. I would recommend this book to any parent that is going through a hard time with their child, there is hope.
Their story truly shows the faithfulness of God and I am inspired by the parents persistence, forgiveness and humility when things looked hopeless. I admire them for being open about their struggles and sharing how difficult walking with the Lord is, but the reward is so great! One of the things I took away was the discipline of praying for what God WILL do instead of praying for what our situation is right now.
This book is an awesome read. I recommend every parent going through something with a wayward child read it. It is full of scripture and reflects the power of prayer.
